The Patek Philippe 5960R-001 has been hugely appreciated by collectors. The model is now discontinued and is becoming increasingly sought-after, with its combination of technical sophistication, historic significance, and refined aesthetics solidifying its place as a true collector’s piece. Launched in 2006 and discontinued years later, the 5960 was the brand’s first automatic chronograph caliber created entirely in-house. This groundbreaking movement combines two of the most sought-after complications: a flyback chronograph and an annual calendar. Crafted in 18k rose gold, the 40.5mm case offers a luxurious yet balanced presence, complemented by an anti-reflection coated sapphire crystal and a sapphire display back showcasing the movement.

The calendar mechanism is based on a 1996 Patek Philippe patent, while the chronograph module features traditional column wheel construction paired with an innovative vertical disk clutch. This design eliminates hand bounce when starting the chronograph and ensures wear-free operation, allowing the central chronograph hand to function as a seconds hand without impacting accuracy—an approach that negates the need for a seconds sub-dial.

The textured grey opaline dial enhances the watch’s elegance, featuring intuitive apertures for the day, date, and month, alongside a monocounter for the chronograph at 6 o’clock.
