Hautlence HLS08 Jump Hour Retrograde Titanium Limited 88 Box Serviced

Offered here is a rare Hautlence HLS08, an early example of the independent Swiss brand’s unconventional approach to displaying time. Hautlence was founded in Neuchâtel in 2004—its name is an anagram of Neuchâtel—with a focus on mechanically inventive, architecture-inspired watches. Dating to circa 2005 and produced in a limited edition of only 88 pieces, the HLS08 features a brushed titanium case with black PVD-coated elements, a three-dimensional black dial, and the brand’s signature jumping-hour and retrograde-minute display. The current hour appears through the magnified aperture on the left side of the dial, while the skeletonized minute hand travels across the curved 0-to-60 scale. Upon reaching 60, the hand flies instantly back to zero as the hour disc advances to the next hour. A subsidiary-seconds display and power-reserve indication complete the highly animated layout.

Powering the watch is a hand-wound, 24-jewel mechanical movement beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 40 hours of power reserve. The movement and its exposed mechanical architecture can be viewed through the sapphire exhibition caseback. The titanium case measures approximately 45 by 43.5mm and is paired with a black Hautlence rubber strap and signed deployant clasp. The watch was fully serviced by Hautlence circa 2016 and comes with its original Hautlence presentation box. Original papers are not included. 

The watch is in overall very nice pre-owned condition. The case presents especially well, with only light signs of prior wear, while the clasp shows light surface marks consistent with normal use.
