What we love about Audemars Piguet

Born in the Swiss village of Le Brassus, Audemars Piguet has been shaping the world of horology since its inception in 1875. The creation of childhood friends Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, with each watchmaker contributing their expertise; Audemars overseeing the production and technical aspects, while Piguet managed sales and business operations. This enduring partnership yielded remarkable achievements, such as the first-minute repeater wristwatch in 1892 and the first Grand Complication pocket watch in 1899, featuring a minute repeater, alarm, perpetual calendar, deadbeat seconds, chronograph, and split-seconds hand.

Despite the passing of Audemars and Piguet in 1918 and 1919, the brand’s legacy was carried on by the next generation, with each subsequent era marked by an unwavering commitment to creativity and craftsmanship. The 20th century witnessed the birth of the world's thinnest pocket watch caliber in 1925, the first skeletonized pocket watch in 1934, and the first perpetual calendar wristwatch in 1957, among others. The Quartz Crisis of the 1970s led to an innovation that became synonymous with Audemars Piguet - the Royal Oak, the first ever luxury sports watch made in steel.

To this day AP remains a family owned business,
